What is Sploshing?

If you’ve come across the word sploshing and wondered what on earth it means, you’re probably not alone. It’s not exactly something people discuss over dinner, although I imagine that could make for an interesting conversation!

Sploshing is the enjoyment of getting covered in messy substances, usually things like cream, custard, yogurt, food or other liquids. It’s often associated with a fetish called wet and messy play, or WAM for short.

For some people, it’s the feeling of different textures against their skin. Others enjoy watching someone get messy or having another person cover them in it. Then there are people who just love the idea of making an enormous mess without anyone telling them off.

I’ve enjoyed sploshing myself on several occasions, and I can understand the appeal. There’s something rather amusing about being allowed to make as much mess as you like, especially when the person you’re covering in it is the one who asked you to do it!

What Does Sploshing Actually Mean?

Sploshing is a term used for enjoying wet and messy experiences, often involving food or other substances being poured, squashed, smeared or thrown over someone.

It can involve all sorts of different textures and temperatures, and everyone seems to have their own preferences.

Some people enjoy thick substances such as custard or cream, while others prefer runnier liquids. Clothing can also be part of the experience, with some people enjoying getting dressed up only to end up completely covered in mess.

Although sploshing is commonly described as a fetish, it doesn’t necessarily have to be sexual. Some people simply enjoy the sensory experience or the playful side of it.

It’s one of those interests where two people can enjoy exactly the same activity for completely different reasons.

How I First Got Into Sploshing

My first experience with sploshing was actually through foot fetish and foot worship sessions.

I’ve used food during foot worship sessions, including squashing food into someone’s face with my feet. I found myself really enjoying it. I liked the sensations, the mess and the whole playful side of it.

Later, a gentleman contacted me wanting a cream pie session with my girlfriend and me. We came up with a game where we would ask him questions, and whenever he got an answer wrong, he would get a cream pie squashed into his face.

The funny thing was that the questions were rigged, so he didn’t really stand much chance of getting them right!

We both absolutely loved that session. It was such good fun, and I still remember it now.

A few years ago, I also had a gentleman who wanted messy liquids thrown all over him while he was sitting in the bath.

I remember thinking, oh my gosh, but it was exactly what he wanted, and he really enjoyed himself.

I’ve had some lovely memories from these experiences. They’re all a little different, but the one thing they have in common is that they’ve been good fun.

What I Enjoy About Sploshing

For me, it’s definitely the playfulness.

I enjoy making the mess, the sensations and seeing someone completely covered in whatever we’re using. There’s something quite funny about looking at someone covered from head to toe in food and knowing they’re absolutely loving it.

Normally, if you started throwing custard and cream all over somebody, I imagine they wouldn’t be particularly pleased with you. But with sploshing, that’s exactly what they’ve come for.

It’s hard to be serious when you’re doing something like this. I’m usually laughing and messing around, and my girlfriend enjoys it too.

That’s not to say everyone wants the same sort of session. Some people might prefer something more structured, while others just want to have fun and see what happens within the boundaries we’ve agreed.

I think the fact that I genuinely enjoy it makes a difference. I’m not simply standing there waiting for the session to finish. I’m having fun as well.

Although I will say, cleaning up afterwards certainly isn’t the fun part!

What Do People Use for Sploshing?

There are so many different things that can be used for sploshing. Some people have very specific preferences, while others are happy to experiment with different substances.

Over the years, I’ve personally used cream, yogurt, custard, fruit, ice cream, cream pies, baked beans and other foods.

They all feel and behave differently, which I suppose is part of what makes it interesting.

Cream is soft and smooth, while custard can be much thicker. Yogurt has its own consistency, and ice cream introduces the feeling of something cold that gradually melts.

Baked beans are another experience altogether! Not exactly something you’d normally expect to have poured over you.

People also have different preferences when it comes to how messy they want to get. Some might only want a small amount of something, while others want to be absolutely covered.

It’s always worth discussing what substances someone enjoys beforehand. Just because a person likes one type of food play doesn’t mean they’re going to enjoy everything else.

Food allergies, skin sensitivities and temperature also need to be considered. I wouldn’t assume that something is safe to put on somebody’s skin simply because it’s safe to eat. Food should also be kept away from the eyes, broken skin and intimate areas where irritation or infection can occur.

Why Do People Like Sploshing?

I think this is probably one of the most interesting things about sploshing, because there isn’t one answer.

Some people love the physical sensations. They enjoy the feeling of something cold, thick, sticky or runny moving across their skin.

Others enjoy the visual side. Seeing someone covered in food or watching a substance gradually spread over clothing can be part of what interests them.

Then there’s the playful side, which is what I personally enjoy most.

We’re generally taught from a young age not to make a mess. Don’t spill your food, don’t get your clothes dirty and certainly don’t throw things around.

Sploshing is almost the opposite of all that.

You’re deliberately doing something that would normally be considered messy or inappropriate, and everyone involved has agreed that it’s perfectly fine.

I can understand why some people find that freedom exciting.

There’s also an element of anticipation. If someone is sitting there waiting for a cream pie to be squashed into their face, they know what’s coming, but they might not know exactly when.

In our cream pie session, the questions were part of the entertainment. The gentleman knew what would happen when he got an answer wrong, and we certainly weren’t making it easy for him!

For other people, the enjoyment might come from being able to relax and allow somebody else to lead the experience.

Whatever the reason, I think it’s more interesting to ask people what they enjoy rather than assume everyone is interested in sploshing for the same reason.

Do People Wear Clothes During Sploshing?

They certainly can. Some people enjoy getting messy while wearing clothing, and for others, the clothing itself is an important part of the experience.

Leggings, wetsuits and other close-fitting garments can create different sensations because of the way substances move or become trapped against the material.

Other people prefer loose clothing or direct contact with their skin.

There isn’t a particular outfit that everyone has to wear, and not everybody wants clothing involved at all.

One practical thing to remember is that food and other messy substances can stain or damage fabrics. If someone wants to wear a particular outfit, it’s worth checking whether they’re happy for it to get dirty or potentially ruined.

And of course, there’s the question of who is going to wash everything afterwards!

Is It Embarrassing to Have a Sploshing Fetish?

I can understand why someone might feel embarrassed about admitting they’re interested in sploshing.

It’s not something you hear people openly discussing every day, and I imagine some people worry about what others might think.

But everyone has their little thing they’re into.

I’ve met people with all sorts of different interests over the years, and I don’t see why somebody should automatically feel ashamed because they enjoy something a little unusual.

What one person finds exciting might seem completely uninteresting to somebody else. That’s just how people are.

For me, the important thing is that everyone involved is an adult, is comfortable with what’s happening and has agreed to take part.

I also think people sometimes put too much pressure on themselves to explain why they enjoy something.

You don’t necessarily need a complicated explanation for every interest you have. Sometimes you simply enjoy something, and that’s enough.

If someone is nervous about discussing sploshing, I’d much rather they tell me what they’re actually interested in than feel they have to pretend it’s something else.

What Happens During a Sploshing Session?

That really depends on the person and what they’re looking for.

Some people have a very clear idea of what they want. They might know exactly which substances they enjoy, what clothing they want to wear and how they’d like the experience to happen.

Others might be curious but haven’t actually tried sploshing before.

I think it’s important to have a conversation beforehand rather than assume everyone wants the same experience.

For example, the gentleman who wanted cream pies was looking for something completely different from the gentleman who wanted messy liquids thrown over him in the bath.

Both were sploshing experiences, but the way we approached them was different.

It’s also worth thinking about the practical side. Sploshing can get extremely messy, and wet floors can become slippery.

Having somewhere suitable, towels, washing facilities and a plan for cleaning up makes a big difference.

And if you’re using food, you’ll need to think about how to dispose of it properly rather than washing large amounts down the drain.

Personally, I think a little preparation is worth it. Nobody wants to spend the entire time worrying about where the custard is going to end up.

My Final Thoughts on Sploshing

Sploshing is one of those things that might sound a bit strange when you first hear about it, but once you understand what people enjoy, it makes more sense.

I’ve had some really fun experiences with it over the years, and my girlfriend enjoys it too.

I love that I can be laughing, making an enormous mess and covering someone in food, knowing that it’s exactly what they’ve asked me to do.

Would I enjoy cleaning up afterwards? Absolutely not. But I suppose you can’t have all the fun without dealing with the mess!
