What Is a Sadist in BDSM?
In BDSM, a sadist is someone who enjoys giving consensual pain, discomfort or intense sensations to another person.
The word “consensual” is important.
For me, sadistic play is enjoyable when the person receiving it actually wants it and gets something from the experience too. I enjoy their reactions, watching them try to endure something, controlling the intensity and gradually seeing how much they can take.
I don’t want to damage someone’s body. The interesting part for me is exploring that line together.
I can be sadistic depending on the person and the type of session we’re having, but being a Dominatrix and being a sadist aren’t exactly the same thing.
Sadist vs Dominatrix: What’s the Difference?
A Dominatrix takes the dominant role. A sadist enjoys giving consensual pain or discomfort. Those things can overlap, but they don’t have to.
A Dominatrix isn’t automatically a sadist, and somebody can enjoy sadistic play without wanting every interaction to involve a strict Dominant/submissive relationship.
For me, the two can overlap. I enjoy being in control of the session and deciding what happens, while also enjoying the reactions that certain types of pain and sensation can create.
You don’t necessarily need to identify as a submissive to explore this with me. However, if I’m directing the session, you can’t come in expecting to demand or control everything I do.
You can tell me what interests you, what you’ve tried before, what you’d like to explore and what your boundaries are. From there, I direct the experience.
How Do You Please a Sadist?
If you want to know how to please a sadist, pretending you can tolerate absolutely anything isn’t the answer.
I enjoy genuine reactions.
I like seeing someone squirm. I like hearing their noises. I like watching someone try to stay still when their body is telling them otherwise. I enjoy begging, surrender and seeing somebody experience the strange mixture of pain and enjoyment that can happen during BDSM.
I particularly enjoy watching someone try to endure something.
That doesn’t mean I want you to ignore your body or push yourself towards injury. There’s a difference between challenging yourself and doing something unsafe because you think it will impress me.
What pleases me is having someone who communicates, trusts me and gives me genuine reactions to work with.
Ball Busting and Testing Your Limits
Ball busting is one example of sadistic play where reactions, communication and intensity all matter.
Some men are very experienced with it. Others are curious and want to discover what they can actually handle.
I enjoy that exploration.
There’s something interesting about seeing how someone responds, adjusting what I’m doing and finding the point where they’re genuinely being challenged without the goal becoming physical damage.
How much somebody can tolerate varies enormously, which is why I don’t think pain play should become a competition.
The aim isn’t to prove that you’re indestructible.
I would much rather see your real reaction.
Trampling, Boots and Heels
Trampling can bring a different type of intensity into a session.
Depending on what we’ve discussed and what is appropriate for you, this can include trampling with boots or heels. For some people, this also overlaps with a foot fetish and their enjoyment of being underneath my feet.
For me, the appeal is partly physical and partly about control. You’re underneath me while I’m deciding the pressure, positioning and pace.
Again, communication matters. Something looking exciting in a fantasy doesn’t automatically tell you how your body will respond when you actually experience it.
Tickle Torture Can Be Sadistic Too
Sadism doesn’t always have to involve conventional pain.
Tickle torture can be incredibly intense because you’re dealing with a reaction that can become very difficult to control.
Restraint can make that even more interesting. Someone might be laughing, squirming and desperately trying to escape the sensation while still having chosen to experience it.
I enjoy those genuine reactions.
It’s a good example of why sadistic BDSM isn’t simply about “hurting somebody.” The psychological side, anticipation, restraint, loss of control and the person’s reactions can be just as important as pain itself.
Other Types of Sadistic Play
There are many different ways someone might explore sadistic BDSM.
Depending on the person, boundaries and session, I may incorporate things such as caning, flogging, paddles, impact play, nipple play, scratching, biting, restraint and different combinations of pain and sensation.
I don’t approach every person in exactly the same way.
Different bodies respond differently. Different people enjoy different sensations. Someone might love one type of pain and absolutely hate another.
That’s part of what makes exploring it interesting.
I Prefer Building the Intensity
I generally prefer to build intensity gradually, particularly when I’m playing with someone for the first time.
I don’t know your body yet. I don’t know how you react, how you communicate when something becomes difficult or what your tolerance actually looks like outside your fantasies.
If we’ve had several sessions together, that can be different.
Over time, I start to understand your reactions better. I can recognise more of the difference between you being challenged, you enjoying trying to endure something and you reaching a point where we need to change what we’re doing.
That familiarity can make play much more interesting because we have some history to build on.
But you still need to communicate. Your tolerance can change depending on the day, your body and how you’re feeling.
Fantasy Pain and Real Pain Can Be Very Different
It’s easy to imagine yourself taking something incredibly intense.
Actually experiencing it is different.
You might have spent years fantasising about a cane, ball busting, trampling or being restrained while somebody tests your tolerance. Then you finally experience it and realise your body has very different ideas.
That’s okay.
You might also discover that you can handle more than you expected.
I enjoy seeing someone explore that for themselves. What I don’t want is someone demanding dangerous levels of intensity simply because that’s how they’ve imagined the fantasy.
We’re working with your actual body, not the version of you that exists in your head.
Safewords Don’t Ruin Sadistic Play
Before intense play, we agree how you’re going to communicate with me.
A safeword gives you a clear way to tell me when something needs to stop.
I also like having an agreed physical signal. That’s particularly important if speaking becomes difficult because of restraint, a gag or the position you’re in.
If you use your safeword, we stop that activity and check in.
That doesn’t necessarily mean the entire session has to end. If you’re okay and want to continue, we can move onto something else. Or we can stop the play completely and move into aftercare.
Either is fine.
Communication allows me to push and challenge somebody within an agreed framework. It doesn’t take anything away from my control of the session.
Don’t Try to Control Every Second
One thing I don’t enjoy is someone telling me they want me to dominate them and then attempting to direct every second of what happens.
Tell me your interests. Tell me your experience. Tell me your boundaries. Tell me what you’re curious about.
But if you’ve chosen me to direct the session, allow me to actually direct it.
Trying to dictate everything, ignoring agreed boundaries or demanding unsafe levels of pain because you’ve built a particular fantasy in your head isn’t going to please me.
Trust and communication work both ways.
Do You Have to Be a Masochist to Please a Sadist?
No.
I enjoy experienced masochists, but I also enjoy people who are exploring pain and discovering how much they can take.
Those can be very different experiences.
Someone who genuinely loves pain may be able to explore much greater intensity. Someone who isn’t naturally highly masochistic can have completely different reactions, and those can be enjoyable too.
For me, intensity isn’t the only thing that makes sadistic play interesting.
Reactions, trust and communication matter more.
My Approach Is Different With Men and Women
My own relationship with sadistic play also depends on who I’m playing with.
With men, I can enjoy causing more intense pain and discomfort when I know they want it and enjoy receiving it.
I’m different with women. I don’t personally enjoy causing women intense pain or discomfort in the same way.
That’s simply part of my own preferences as a Dominatrix. Not every Dominatrix or sadist enjoys the same things, which is another reason I don’t think BDSM should be described as though everyone follows one universal formula.
So, How Do You Really Please a Sadist?
For me, it’s not about proving you’re the toughest person I’ve ever met.
Give me genuine reactions. Communicate with me. Tell me your boundaries. Trust me enough to let me direct the session, and be willing to explore what your body actually enjoys rather than what you think you’re supposed to endure.
I like seeing someone challenged.
I like watching them try to endure something.
I like controlling the intensity and seeing how their reactions change as I increase or change what I’m doing.
And when we’ve played together several times, I like the fact that we start learning each other. I understand your reactions better, you understand how I work, and that can give us more room to explore.
That’s much more interesting to me than somebody simply asking me to hurt them as much as possible.
Exploring Sadistic BDSM With Me
If you’re interested in exploring sadistic BDSM with me, tell me what you’ve experienced before, what interests you, what you already know you enjoy and anything you’re curious about trying.
If you’re relatively inexperienced, that’s okay too. Just remember that fantasy and reality can be very different, and communication is part of finding out what actually works for you.
You can learn more about me as a Black Dominatrix in London and the different types of sessions I offer.
If ball busting particularly interests you, read my guide to ball busting. If reactions, restraint and uncontrollable laughter appeal to you instead, you can also read about my tickle torture sessions. If being underneath my feet, boots or heels is part of the appeal, you can also explore my Foot Fetish London page.
Whatever we’re exploring, I want the experience to be consensual, communicated and genuinely enjoyable for both of us.
